If you ever wanted to play online or compare games Join me on Xbox Live and PSN

One of the greatest things about this generation of games is the ability to play online. It brings back the feel of arcades to have competition in fighting games. Also I love comparing my high scores in Shmups to other players around the world. Thanks to this generation many arcade games got a second chance as downloadable titles upgraded with multi-player online. I ask that you join Xbox Live or Playstation Network if you have not already to really experience the next generation of Arcade gaming. As most of our own local Arcades have closed the only places to enjoy great competition and share the experience of the games is Online.

My Screen name for PSN is Japhei and my Xbox Live names are Japheigod (USA) , Trigger Runner (Japan) They are also posted on the side of the blog here if you would like to play a game sometime or add me as a friend. I love how they display the last 5 games played on each as well. I look forward to playing you!

Cave announced  Akai Katana Shin for Arcade release on Taito's NesicaXlive Platform. The game will be a port of the Xbox 360 version that featured Updated Graphics. I previously announced Cave as a developer on my original NesicaXlive post covered here.

2012 Console and Arcade News Roundup!

My apologies for not updating the blog in many moons. With E3 around the corner there is no better time then now to bring back the site.

As you may know I did a post about all of the games speculated to come home in the last 12 months here and like always I was correct about the games that were being released MONTHS ahead of any other news sites. Games like Mushihimesama 1.5 and Dodonpachi Daifukkatu (Pal/USA) were released to the Xbox 360 like predicted. In fact the only game not released is the Dreamcast port of Sturmwind.

Everything that was promised by major developers made it out and met my expectations.

The game ports of real importance I failed to cover that were released this year are Akai Katana for the Xbox 360 USA/Pal market , a Blazblue Upgrade for PS3/PSP/Vita/Xbox360 , House of The Dead 3 & 4 on PSN ,and the Simpsons Arcade game for PSN and XBLA.

That Under Defeat HD Port which I posted the first news about in 2008 was also released finally for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Arcade news has been really slim with not many games in the pipeline with future home ports like Guilty Gear XX , Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Virtua Fighter 5.

Cave released a update to the Dodonpachi Series titled "Dodonpachi Sai Ou Jou" that is currently the 6th most popular game in Japanese Arcades according to Arcadia. They also announced a port of Akai Katana Shin to Arcades which I will cover in my next post.
